Abraham and Sarah, Unified in Oneness

YHWH called to Abram, directing him to leave his homeland, his father and everything he knew, to journey to a land he had not yet seen. Abram obeyed, but he was not alone in making his decision to leave. Sarai his beloved wife, left with him. He trusted and she took the journey with him. Not only was she trusting in Abram, but she was placing her trust in Gods promises. The scriptures go on to tell us about the complexity and oneness of Abraham and Sarah’s relationship. The writer of Hebrews, the writer of Isaiah and the words etched in Torah, speak to the calling of both Abraham and Sarah.

Both of them were evangelists, disciple – makers, servants of the Most High God, as well as friends. Sarah’s tent was known as a place where women would come to for refuge. Broken women, searching women, people who needed to know love, strength and kindness. In this teaching Aliyah looks at how her husband honored her calling above his own, and how ultimately their relationship expressed a oneness that was destined to be a reality since the Garden of Eden.
