Over two thousand years ago, the Man named Yeshua went in to the grave. His disciples and followers were devastated. Their beloved Rabbi had warned them to remember His words, His prophecy about His death and resurrection. But they were sorrowful and despairing, so much so that two of His followers turned their backs on Jerusalem and made their way on the dusty road to Emmaus.
Consumed with sadness and false expectation, their situation speaks to us today. So too does the bitter weeping of Peter and the Mercy he found in the trial that faced Him. This Shabbat Messiah Yeshua has laid this message on my heart for you. In 6 days time we will celebrate Passover, some of you do not feel ready, others of you are loaded with guilt or you have turned your backs and headed out on the road to Emmaus. But you are loved and Mercy wants to find you on this road, because the One who is Merciful did not stay in the grave, He rose for all of our wanderings and our pains. He rose as the Triumphant King who loves His followers deeply, and He meets us where we are.
