There is a desperation that lives within the soul of a slave. Every day the desperation grows louder until it cannot be contained. The slaves torn from their homes in Africa travelled to America bound in shackles bound for the New World of pain, in a word hell – bound. Those who died during the journey were thrown overboard, those who made it – wished they dead. The cry of the enslaved always remains the same – it is a deeply cutting cry for every soul of a slave cries out “Freedom.”
Truth be told, that there is a Hagar in all of us……… I would like to encourage you to read the full account of Hagar’s Song and may her story touch us all, in the deep places that no one sees.
