Should Women be Silent in the Congregation – 1 Corinthians 14

Should Women be Silent in the Congregation – 1 Corinthians 14
Congregations and leaders within faith communities have used two simple verses in 1 Corinthians 14, to preach a doctrine that women are to be “seen and not heard,” within congregations, bible studies, seminary halls and within areas of teaching influence. Two verses out of context from the letter of Corinthians and out of context of the greater teachings found in the New Testament.
Aliyah and Yosef have dedicated many years of scholarly research to the difficult passages of scripture about women in the New Testament, In this Bible Bite, Aliyah goes in to the context of 1 Corinthians 14, taking us through the clues which answer the all important question of “should women be silent in every congregation on every continent in the world?” Or was Paul addressing something else within his generation?
