Nehushta, Co-Regent Queen

Nehushta, Co-Regent Queen

Jehoiachin the young king took the throne during a turbulent time in Judah. His father had passed away and Jehoiachin was soon to face the mighty king Nebuchadnezzar whose world renown army was marching on Judah to sack the city and pillage the people. The throne needed guidance and a strong hand leading it, and it was Nehushta’s hand that would guide her son. She became the first woman in Ancient Israel to rule as co – regent and to fully embody the political role of “queen mother,” to a sitting king. This is her tragic story, in the time of Judah’s final stand off against Babylon.
