Phoebe of Cenchrae

She leaned in as the warm evening breeze blew in from the Meditteranean. The candles flickered momentarily as Tertius brought the quill down on to the parchment. Paul walked in front of the low desk, his eyes gazed upwards and his words were calm and fluid. She did not want to miss a single sentence, a single minute of Paul's heartfelt statement of faith. She did not want to miss it because she needed it for her own faith, and for the faith of others. For the Roman believers whose lives she would touch as letter carrier for the apostle. Her task was hold, and she felt its gravity, somewhere inside she knew this letter would carry weight, somehow she sensed it was for a greater purpose, so she kept leaning in to every word.
