We meet the infant Moses on the banks of the Nile, enclosed in a small wicker basket. His life hanging in the balance, his fate uncertain. His mother Jochebed knew Pharoah would kill her son, so she placed him safely in the reeds, sad and defeated. It would seem that the tiny boy might perish in the reeds. But Yahweh had a different plan. Pharoah's daughter came down to the river to bathe and found the Hebrew baby. Moved with compassion, she saved him and took him as her own son.
